ABOUT SAMBA IANSA:
In the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé, the orisha Iansã is the goddess of winds and lightning, queen of storms and spirit of the dead. She is a powerful warrior and a seductive woman.
The samba performance team was born from their love of samba dancing and Brazilian culture. They proudly and humbly named their team after Iansã, as an inspiration for them and all women to express their strength and beauty, on and off the stage!
They specialise in Afro and Rio-style samba performances, to entertain all audiences at all types of events, from festivals and charity events to weddings and private functions. More recently they also started partnering with a Melbourne-based capoeira school to produce authentic shows including traditional Afro-Brazilian martial arts and dances: capoeira and maculele.
